Winnovation had a great weekend in Chicago, full of lots of small victories and, in the end, the one that mattered - 2014 Midwest Regional Champions. We are heading to the 2014 FRC Championships in St. Louis, MO on April 23-26. Thank you to all of our families and sponsors for their generous support. Also a shout out to both Mr. Bloomquist and Mr. Gruber for visiting us in Chicago; thank you!
For a recap of the competition:
- 54 teams attended, including four who traveled all the way from Turkey
- Winnovation finished the qualification rounds with a record of 11-1, ranked second to our friends on Team 2451, PWNAGE.
- Four of the other top eight teams at this event have visited us at the Bot Shop in Winnebago to scrimmage and fine tune for competition - practice pays off!
- PWNAGE selected us to play with them during the playoff rounds, and we invited a rookie team with just three members, Team 5125, Hawks on the Horizon, to join our #1 seeded alliance.
- Our alliance executed its game play strategy almost flawlessly during the elimination matches, moving to the Finals against a very tough #2 alliance.
- Our alliance won the Finals, best 2 out of 3, in two matches, with scores of 240-132 and 326-175.
- Winnovation also won the Quality Award, sponsored by Motorola; this award is given to the team that best demonstrates "machine robustness in concept and fabrication."
